Dvořak’s 9th symphony was composed during his stay in America between
1892 and 1895. Upon his return to Europe he stated that a future American
music culture must be founded on the legacy of African American folk songs.

Conversation with Beethoven 20:06
Based on Ludwig van Beethoven, Symphony No 7, 2. movement
Beethoven’s 7th symphony was written in the context of the last months of
European war, towards the end of a period of brutal Napoleonic domination.
Through these masterpieces Dvořak and Beethoven both described a world in change. A new world.
